La Pieve di S. Giovanni Battista, una chiesa in stile gotico con dipinti del IV secolo, fu probabilmente costruita nella prima metà del Trecento e voluta dalla Repubblica Senese che ha come emblema una campana scolpita nella porta principale. Il campanile, per le sue caratteristiche, assomiglia più a una fortificazione del X secolo, tanto da pensare che dove ora sorge la chiesa, un tempo sorgeva il castello della potente famiglia Aldobrandeschi distrutta dai senesi. Questa tesi è confermata dalle cantine sotto la canonica e dalla porta segreta alla base della torre. Sulla facciata della chiesa c’è un rosone con la testa di un animale, forse un toro, su di esso.
The Pieve of S. Giovanni Battista, a church with a gothic style that has paintings from the fourth century, was probably built in the first half of the fourteenth century and wanted by the Senese Republic which has as its emblem a bell that has been carved into the main door. The belltower, for its features, looks more like a tenth century fortification, so much to think that where the church now stands, once stood the castle of the powerful Aldobrandeschi family destroyed by the people of Siena. This thesis is confirmed by the cellars under the parsonage and by the secret door at the base of the tower. On the facade of the church there is a rose window with an animal’s head, perhaps a bull, on it.
