It is an ideal environment to walk the dogs, play sports, have a good time with the kids or even have a group picnic. It has two good snacks with shade, a playground and a viewpoint from which we can enjoy stunning views of the coast of La Coruña.
We finish the route going down some wooden stairs that will take us to the promenade of Santa Cruz, where we find the Castle of Santa Cruz.
It is undoubtedly the emblem of the City Council of Oleiros. It is accessed for free by a wooden walkway because it is located on a small island. It is surrounded by a coastal walk from which we can enjoy magnificent and impressive views of the Herculean city, as well as the port of Santa Cruz.
This castle was built at the end of S. XVI as reinforcement to the castle of San Antón to defend the port of A Coruña.
It has 1.9 hectares, and has a beautiful garden with several viewpoints and a tourist information point where exhibitions, courses and events are also held.
For several years now it is tradition to celebrate at the end of August the closing of the local festivities of the town with impressive fireworks at sea, with the castle and the city of Coruña in the background.
